As much as I am looking forward to returning to Seattle - as it signals I am in the home stretch of this pregnancy - I find myself sad that our time in Tokyo is coming to an end.
This past week my parents flew in from Oregon to experience our Japanese lifestyle. Apparently this lifestyle agrees with us as we heard more than once that Josh, Liam and myself looked happier and healthier than ever. I think that is a very true statement. And, it was fun to share that lifestyle with my parents.
Besides becoming more established at eating with chopsticks they got to try and do a lot of things...
They got to try wine that looks like a juice box.

They got to enjoy the oldest zoo in Japan (Ueno Zoo) with a very excited grandson.

They got to experience the funny Japanese sense of humor as seen by this sign at the zoo:

There was even evening dance parties to House of Pains "Jump Around" with Liam in our living room.

They got to enjoy the brand new Sunshine City Aquarium right in Ikebukuro.

They even survived the busiest train station in the world (as Ikebukuro is technically "only" the second busiest) so we could walk to Shinjuku Gyoen - one of our favorite Japanese parks/gardens.

They got to leave Tokyo and spend an afternoon in the town Josh works in (Kawagoe) and enjoy our favorite meal - Shabu Shabu with us. (I would hazard a guess it was probably their favorite meal of the entire week here)

And, because United Airlines Breaks Guitars and cancels flights, my parents ended up with one whole extra day in Japan in which Josh didn't have to work. So, what do you do with an extra unexpected day? You experience Roppongi.

Once in Roppongi you enjoy the Belgium Beer Festival in Tokyo! Nothing says a great last day like an Oktoberfest in Japan!

Tomorrow, if United airlines runs smoothly, my parents will head back to Oregon.

In one more week, we will head back to Seattle.
Definitely a bit sad. But, definitely glad to have had this whirl-wind Tokyo sight seeing week to enjoy a few things one last time with my family.
